The Solar Install Story

I have been talking about doing it for a long time, getting solar put on my RV. I finally got myself to spend the money and got it done. This is what I had installed: two Photo-valtic panels 135 watts each, Blue Sky Solar Boost 2000E Controller and 800 watt inverter. I wanted a first class install, not something I did myself as I would do a butcher job and hate how it looked. Therefore I searched the internet and asked fellow RV’rs where they got their solar work done and pestered folks to show me what their set up looked like and how they liked having solar etc.

I finally settled on “The Sun Works” located at Slab City (Niland) California. I took the rig to him yesterday and it took five hours to do the install and then I took the rig back to have the inverter hardwired into the rig this morning that took an hour. I think they did a good job and it looks neat, clean and safe.

Today is the first full day with solar on my rig and by 11:30 am my two wet cell group 27 batteries of an unknown age were fully charged and it is a partly cloudy day and I only had the PV panels tilted for about an hour!

The next upgrade will be to upgrade the batteries so I get more amp hours, but that will have to wait until I get over spending for this work.

I’ll post later how all this has worked out for me.
